Opticca Consulting is hiring a highly skilled Red Hat OpenStack Administrator and Migration Specialist to join our dynamic team.

About the opportunity

We are adding to our team an experienced Red Hat OpenStack Administrator and Migration Specialist with strong expertise in OpenStack V16, as our primary goal is to manage and execute the migration from OpenStack V16.1 to V17. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of OpenStack V16, and experience with OpenStack V17 is highly desirable. In this role, you will be deeply hands-on in the migration process, directly involved in executing and managing migration tasks to ensure a smooth and successful transition to OpenStack V17.

You can expect to

OpenStack Administration:
- Administer and maintain Red Hat OpenStack environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, with a focus on OpenStack V16.1.
- Monitor and optimize performance of OpenStack components such as Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, and Horizon.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery planning for OpenStack services.
Migration Specialist:
- Develop and execute detailed migration plans for transitioning from OpenStack V16.1 to OpenStack V17.
- Engage hands-on in the migration process, including configuring, testing, and deploying migration tasks.
- Work closely with clients and internal teams to understand current environments, address migration challenges, and ensure successful execution.
- Perform migration assessments, manage migration tasks, and provide recommendations for optimizing performance and reliability post-migration.
User and Access Management:
- Manage user accounts and permissions within the OpenStack environment.
- Implement and oversee access control policies to ensure secure and appropriate access to resources.
Resource Provisioning and Management:
- Provision and manage compute, storage, and network resources within the OpenStack environment.
- Optimize resource allocation and usage to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Continuously monitor system performance and availability.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks, including updates and patch management, to ensure system stability and security.
Security Management:
- Implement and manage security policies and practices to protect OpenStack environments.
- Conduct security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Automation and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline administration and management tasks.
- Implement automated workflows and tools to enhance operational efficiency.
CI/CD Integration:
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment and integration of OpenStack services and applications.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate OpenStack with existing CI/CD workflows.
- Monitor and improve CI/CD processes to ensure smooth, continuous delivery of updates and enhancements.
Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for OpenStack-related issues, with a focus on migration-related challenges.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and migration procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues and enhance system capabilities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with Red Hat OpenStack developments, especially related to V17, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to streamline administration and migration tasks.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and scripts to enhance OpenStack management.

Must haves

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- Proven experience as an OpenStack Administrator with hands-on experience in deploying and managing Red Hat OpenStack environments, particularly V16.1.
- Experience with OpenStack V17 is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience in planning and executing migrations of workloads from legacy systems to OpenStack.
- Strong understanding of OpenStack architecture and components.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and processes, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar.
Skills:
- Proficiency with Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RHOSP), including installation, configuration, and management.
- Experience with related technologies such as Linux, virtualization, and cloud computing.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with clients and team members.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenStack.
- CI/CD-related certifications, such as Jenkins Certification or similar.
- Other relevant certifications in cloud technologies or virtualization.
